I bought these for cutting lead for roofing, and am very pleased with them. They are sprung, so the jaws open when the handle pressure is released.

Perfectly functional tool that is easy to use. Able to cut thin slithers of metal without the creasing seen with typical bypass tin snips, also cutting detailed curves is made much easier as the blade geometry bends one side of the metal out of the way. There are a number of shortcuts made in the manufacture of these tools such as the finish on cast parts and a marked amount of ''slop'' in the blade-to-handle linkages but this does not seem to affect the function beyond the ''feel'' of the tool. On one of my pairs the blades don''t quite meet at the end. Lock nuts allow for disassembly and replacing parts if that becomes necessary, although I have not used the tools enough to ascertain their longevity. For occasional use these tools seem a handy addition to a shop but you get what you pay for!

Tin snips work great, left, right and straight all track well. Handle covers are a bit plastic, but for the diy tin snipery I’m doing they are just right.

Very pleased with product, cut 1mm thick sheet steel with minimum burr. The handing was very useful for cutting intricate shapes.
